I've heard from someone who had a very low salinity tank with Pbass and Groupers that Bichirs wouldn't work, theyd die randomly.

I understand that everyone trying to help here but mostly you guys are talking about WC bichirs. Most senegal bichirs are being sold as CB and born and raise in freshwater tank. They been breed in tank for a long time and most are inbreed were the parents most likely born and raise in freshwater also. So putting them in a brackish water might affect them.

Since the vast majority of Senegals are captive bred in pure freshwater. I’d say they wouldn’t thrive in brackish conditions (1.002 - 1.022). To achieve this salinity. You would need 1 to 1.5 cups of rock salt per 5 gallon.
Recently added a 8” & 9” CB Senegal to my large tank. Before I did this. I poured in 1 cup or rock salt into about 3 gallons of water for a salt dip. The two shook their heads from side to side in extreme discomfort. Just providing ya’all my experience.

Having said that, I would say that most if not all CB bichirs would not appreciate brackish waters. I would however give a different answer if the discussion was on WC bichirs

I do understand, we all like to discuss about where our polys come from, its all fun for us especially for us that like to collect WC bichirs. I just dont wanna confuse the OP about catch locations and their environment in the wild.my bad

The majority of bichirs that are wc are from fresh water also, lake turkana is the exception but its still not quite the same as a true brackish environment. Most of the fish in lake turkana swim upstream to spawn. I was trying to figue out the sg of lake turkana and the best I found is 2.5% not sure how that equates to specific gravity. The other thing I found is the water is drinkable but not palatable.....lol. As stated by

Sorry about the late reply.. I got caught up in work and setting up a new tank lol.
But as for if I know whether or not it's CB or WC the fish store I bought it from doesn't have any back info on the fish they sell and the employees are completely clueless about the fish.

Just of the one I bought from them.. it was the only one there too.
I wasn't able to get a good clear full body pictures of him but here's a few I just took. I'm battling slime algae all over the tanks glass atm which makes getting a decent picture twice as difficult not to mention the little guy is a lightning bolt..
