Well...the entire message of this thread is that we fish keepers keep Big Rich being "rich" with fish.

Big Rich would have no fish if there were no irresponsible fish keepers. And from my point of view and logic, he's saving a fish soul that would have been either fried in a frying pan, thrown in natural waterways endangering local wild life, beaten with stone on the head(best one of all), left die a slow and painful death...

And the guy sounds really humble and nice, a true fish lover.

I agree that you can look at it from helping the fish. I also agree the fish keeper original one is definitely the cause of this. Same goes with LFS but less so as it's not their responsibility. It's the consumer.

In a way I have to give you kudos for having the cojones to come back and face your detractors

I've quoted these two paragraphs because they both make very good valid points.

Let's be human beings and not make anyone feel being singled out for having a seemingly different opinion. Otherwise they'd never be progress....if we all sing the same song.....

I think we all want the same for pet fish but we believe in different means to achieve it.

The real question here is......can the detractor do any better?

Totally. Is what Rich does a perfect scenario? No, but it seems to be a far better fate than what these fish are/were destined for. Kudos to him for trying. Perhaps young Phillip can send some help Rich's way, start a GoFundMe, wire him some cash, donate some bags of commercial fish food, whatever. But to publically call Rich out, refer to him as a hoarder, borderline animal abuser, and critique his personal care of himself - is just being an ahole. That's me being a human being.

Just my humble opinion.

Anyone who would say negative things about this guy and his organization is out of their mind.
To op- do you say he can't take care of himself because he has a gut? Or his hair style choice? You are shallow if so. I hope one day you will see you are wrong in judging people by their looks. In my eyes he is way more healthly and a much better person then you. Maybe I'm wrong and you are also a good person at heart but your words say otherwise.

This next section was touched on very lightly so id like to bring it foward a bit and talk about part of the base issue here.

As to the buyer beware attitude this is true but I also believe the lfs has an obligation to the animals and purchasers. They need to help educate the new hobbiest, help guide them. As for the "they are there to make money" arguments, if they truly care about the animals and hobbiests then they will make money. It's not a sprint its a marathon. Build a loyal customer base by providing good info and product and you will get the money. The lfs can order red tail cats, tsn, pacu, huge gars at anytime for the right people, to carry them in shop and sell to uneducated people is bad business. Yes I said it dont sell to people who dont understand. Some people will be offeneded but less unwanted monsters will be left to overpopulate Riches tanks. Maybe I'm spoiled because I have a huge lfs that does this type of thing all the time near by. I see it can be done the "right way", educate. There are very few people who can say something trully negative about it and most are in awe the first time there. They have been in buisness for over 30 years and have expanded /moved to larger buildings many times. I have been told no by an employee before that was a shock and at the time I was like what do you mean no!? But after having a conversation with them I understood why and was glad they told me no. I have learned so much from them over the last 20 years. They embrace the education portion of the hobby more then the make a buck that so many lfs do.

Your one to talk. You call a 36 year old young like I am a child but that's alright.

Your one of the biggest elitists on this forum. I have no problem blocking your comments as they are always in poor manner. I been over your attitude for a long time now.

Next please.

He overstocks all his tank and feeds process meat for human consumption to his fish.
Are you all drunk? If you think this is okay you must be on something.

It's not a fish rescue, it's a crowed shelter at best.
