If no one objects then I would like to hear more from the op.

philipraposo1982 philipraposo1982 You’ve said your opinion, now I would like to hear you defend it.
State your logic and reasoning as to how you came to your conclusion which you said earlier.

Now now now young man. Everyone's entitled to an opinion and, due to the mostly democratic world we live in, can air said opinion in public without getting stoned to death.

I can see the OP's point of view, on some of the points he raised, though the "he can't even take care of himself" jibe was very offensive and totally uncalled for.

Unfortunately for the OP the vast majority of us on here think big rich is doing the best job he can and commend him highly for it. I think the OP may be feeling a little sheepish at the moment, hence his lack of activity in his own thread.

You, commanding him to come out of hiding so no doubt everyone can stone him to death so to speak is not helpful and this thread will end up going in the wrong direction.

And in any case, you wouldn't want to be the instigator of a witch hunt, bearing in mind you're on probation.

That's my diplomatic take on the situation anyway.

Big rich is two persons in one. Its rich and its his mullet. Both are awsome and rich is doing such a great job. It is people like all the kids on youtube that buys rtc, pacus, silver aros and other largegrowing fish and puts them in 120g tanks at tops and thinks its okey. That makes other people think its okey and they go to the fishstore and buys this cute little fish that will outgrow his or hers tank in prob 4-5 months with proper caring.

More people should be like rich and josh. I wish my wife was as forgiving as rich wife is.

With that said hats of and cudos to rich, josh and OFR.

I hadn’t thought about it like that. I had mainly been wanting to see how he came to his conclusion but I guess that I should have realized that he most likely wouldn’t have wanted to put himself out there anymore.
Thank you for pointing all of that out.

Everything I said is true. It's not hating at least from me it is not

I agree that you can look at it from helping the fish. I also agree the fish keeper original one is definitely the cause of this. Same goes with LFS but less so as it's not their responsibility. It's the consumer.

My standpoint, and no one has to agree with me, is that anyone who takes in a fish weather rescued or purchased from a store had the same obligation to care for that fish properly.

It's my opinion, again no one has to agree, that these fish are not properly being cared for. Are they better off somewhere else I don't know.

It's sad that we can't strive for a good life for these fish but one that is just meh...

Can you honestly tell me his wife's koi is all rescues? They are crammed in there with hardly any room to move.

Those alligator Gar the all white ones in a split tank with again nearly any room.

If I kept that same situation I would be *****ed on here by many of you but because he is doing it he gets a free pass.

If everyone buy a monster at a young age only to think he big rich will take it when it gets to big, this is definitely sending the wrong message.

Just to highlight again my main concerns with his fishkeeping practices:
Overstocking.
Feeding hot dogs and god only know what other fillers (no i don't eat hot dogs, I wouldn't feed it to my dog. People on here have also made comments on how I feed my fish several times yet I feed all the best brands of food in the industry as well athings like worms, frozen foods, algae tablets ect.
Hoarding, there is no way he can take care of everything properly, its simply too much for him. Any test his water? I bet good money many of his tanks have extreme high level of nitrates.

he has been overstocking since day 1

these fish eat 6 lbs of food every other day there are 4 hybrid shovelnose catfish 36"44" long, 2 red tailed cats 36 and 40" long, 5 niger cats 36"- 44", 2 iridescent sharks24"-36", 1 albino giant gourami 28", 2 pacus 30-34", 1 aligator gar 33", 4 marble cats 22"-36", 1 learius pictus 28", 1 albino channel cat 29", they are temp in this pool for a short time untill i get the new house setup with my 4000 gallon tank and the new indoor pond,

If i did this in my 1500G you would all say great things yeah?

The ones here who ***** about a red devil in a 75 or a oscar in a 90 need to shake their heads. I can start pulling post from probably all of you here offering advice in which someone has a not so ideal setup and everyone jumping down their throats.

Big rich clearly is untouchable here, and thats okay with me, but I will not agree that he is not mistreating this giants. She its better than death buts its besides the point. If we all use this same mentality then most aquarist are doing amazing things for these fish.

I've seen some videos but don't know much about him. I know how hard it would be to just maintain 1 tank that size and he has lots of them, all the tanks are clean and the fish look healthy so I assume he knows what he's doing.
He is at least trying to do something good, looks like he's succeeding too, I don't think its right to criticise him unless you know for a fact he is hoarding or neglecting the fish. I'm sure if you have proof this is the case then post it as it would support your case.
I don't really see what it achieves by cursing him though, all the fish would be much worse off without him as far as I can tell.

I have seen some videos but don't know much about him or his set ups, I do know how much time and effort it would take to look after just one tank that size and he has heaps. All the tanks look clean and the fish look healthy so he is certainly doing something right. There are only a tiny amount of people who can even remotely care for one monster and he is doing a good job with heaps of them,
You do make some fair points, especially saying if you can buy a fish and expect to pass it on to big rich when it gets too big its not a good message. Also you are correct in saying it's sad the fish can't have a perfect life but I think he is giving them a much better life than if he didn't take them in. Unfortunately it's the best situation, otherwise the fish would be dead or dumped into a river somewhere.
Personally I respect your right to your opinion (you didn't need to make the personal insult though) but I think he's genuinely trying to help and is doing the best he can with what he's got, possibly it's not an ideal situation for the fish but it could be much much worse for them. Anyone who is trying to help as much as he is deserves support not criticism in my opinion.
I assume he will eventually reach full capacity and I wonder what will happen then.
