No pleco is good fish, don't know why people'd love to have them (maybe misleading/false information from bad shop owner who just wanna sell any sht to get earned )

Pleco's are ok people shouldn't release them in native water's. I agree with the doing research prior to buying.

But maybe some of them were released before hatch. (drained out pleco eggs to sewer)

From my experience, when you first entered fish hobby. You'll get many false information from your LFS (they have to clear the stock before the trend is gone. And will lie everything e.g. Small tank is fine, They won't grow much, They are not aggressive , They can be keep together and the lamest of all "He trained to eat pellet")

And the internet wasn't there to save the earth, lol

Unfortunately I was one of those without the internet and was misinformed on keeping fish but read books and aquarium magazine's. Really no excuse today so much info at your fingertips.

It's always common plecos being invasive, why can't it ever be zebra plecos becoming invasive? (joking)
I say turn it into a competition. There's no better way to make something change than to turn it into a competition. Imagine a few buddies sitting around the house watching the game knocking back a few cold ones and a commercial comes on telling them about the monthly competition to catch the most plecos. One of them drunkly tells the other that they'll bet $50 that he can catch more plecos than him. They agree on the bet and go out and catch over 100 plecos together.

Just because they are there does not mean it was deliberate. Could be the result of storm damage to a local fish farm who knows when? In any case its not good for the environment or the hobby.

Honestly with how frequently these fish outgrow tanks it's definitely not a case of fish farm, many people don't realize what damage a loose fish can do. "It's just a fish right?"
