My husband and I were talking on Saturday about having to make sure the kids start checking themselves for ticks. That lead into a conversation about tick carried illnesses....

Come Sunday we are out and about getting block for a patio and decided to stop and look at shrubs. Husband asks if I think they are still selling chicks. I told him I doubt it, kinda late I’m the spring now. We went in for a look... sure enough they still had a big group of guinea keets. The guy asked if we wanted them all, I said no. Maybe 4-6.

Guy “How about a “good six””

Husband and I “sure”

And here is the “good six”

I’ve never cared for these guys before and I hope I don’t lose too many. One isn’t looking too great so I have some reading to do. If all goes well we will have a nice little flock and some pest control. Haha!

Never heard of those but they are cute.

That is known as 'Buy 6 and get 10 free'. Congrats on the new pickup.!

Thanks!
Haha! I’ll take it! At over $5 a head I was happy to have some freebies. He even gave us a deal on their heat lamp. Granted we did have two others at home that would have worked just fine. But doesn’t hurt to have more then you need.

That’s funny. Super cute... for now. Lol.

So are they food later, or pets? Do you live on a farm/country or is this a species that is allowed in the city? Some people like to keep chickens here in the city but there are certain restrictions... not sure if people abide by them though. Lol

Looks like 17 in there hahaha i love it. Good luck!

Close, there are 16. Two have pasty butts so I’m trying to keep them cleaned up. Hope it clears up in a day or so.

We will see, haha. I don’t like the idea of caring for outside animals over winter so might be food.... but I’ve never butchered anything before. Could be too hard mentally.
I live on a small 10 acre hobby farm surrounded by fields. My closest neighbor is at least a mile away. I hope they stay roosting here. I’d never keep them if we were in the city or had closer neighbors.
