Mom wants a display tank in the kitchen to make it look a bit better. At the moment all my tanks are either in my bedroom or my fishroom, but guests don't really see that, so she wants something more aesthetic in the kitchen. There is space for a 10-15 gallon tank, I was thinking of getting a small tank like that and aquascaping it. But then the real question is what do I stock it with? I was thinking either killies, guppies, or maybe a single male apisto, preferably a singular specimen or pair of some type of centerpiece fish.

update, mom wants a colorful schooling fish, something she can get 9 of

Celestial Pearl danios would be great, you should get more than 9 though, but they stay small.
Some other good options would be small rasboras like the chili and harlequin rasbora
If you want to upgrade to a 20 or something a bit larger you can get some cherry barbs, black emperor tetras, rummynose tetras, red eyed tetras, and some other larger tetras and barbs.

like i said there's only space for a 10-15, i was thinking of going for a 15 just because it's wider
for some reason my mom was really keen on getting 9 of the things so i'll stick with that

I guess that could work, if you can get more then that'd be better.

Wild bettas or apistogramma I think would be great.

I think I might go with endlers, but could a single male apisto go with said endlers? maybe even a ram instead?
