New Reef Build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Still plan to add 20-30lbs of live rock
Live rocks = unwanted pets, and other hidden harmful species that will ruin your setup and trust me add anything into your tank is very easy but remove unwanted thing out of your tank is a different story, might take months to years and in some extreme cases you will have to tear your tank a part and redo everything from fresh start just because a few lbs of live rocks :)

Used livestock for every reef setup I have had. Never an issue involving unwanted pests. Let’s hope I still have the same luck then

2 words.....vermetid snails. I hate those things. Aiptasia gets an honorable mention

Bobbit worm......if you dont know google that one for a good time.
Had one, caught it small enough though.

Another that almost went in the tank and ended up in its own tank was a mantis shrimp. Cool little critter, not a peacock though smaller type and not pretty. But fun to watch!

Added some SPS into the tank yesterday. Lost a couple in the shipment that are being replaced. System holds steady around 9-9.5 DKH, 350-470 Ca. Finally found a couple apex dosers which are being sent and should arrive Friday. I have 3 on the way so likely 1 for 2 part, second for magnesium and trace, 3rd for auto waterchanges.

nice update! reef is really coming along.
Personally I like the fact that the live crock adds a bunch of biological diversity to the tank. Sure you may get some vermetids and whatnot. But that's part of the fun of it, right? lol

Last setup I had was more interesting at night then during the day. So many critters and creepy crawlers
