Body parts sewn together in Arizona

That sounds too crazy to be real. Just nuts!

Who is the main moderator of the "lounge"? I would really like to know why the police/water topic was locked when there was nothing against any site rules crossed. If topics are going to be locked just on a whim like that then it would be nice to know what the reason behind it was. As an Admin of a site for the past 18 yrs myself with 50k+ members anytime I lock something I at least let people know why, especially when there's no clear rule that was broken.

Hello; You mirror my thoughts. When I learned that thread is locked I went back to read thru it. Figured something bad must have happened since my last visit but did not find anything. I have been making an effort to stay within the forum rules for some months now. Sometimes not making a reply to a provocation so as to avoid ramping up the banned rhetoric.
This thread was pretty bland. No mention of guns nor religion I can recall. I get that most anything can have some link to politics now a days but any such link was tenuous at best to my thinking.
You make the strongest point about them letting us know why a thread is locked or deleted. I get they are the lords of the manor so to speak and can do as they wish.
The locking of that thread for no reason I can understand is significant to my mind. If the rules are changed I missed it.

Yep that is pretty much my point. Websites can exercise their right to do/lock anything they wish for any reason, I understand that, but if they are going to start locking things simply because someone that is a mod doesn't agree with something said, then I would like to know that because if that is the direction this site is going to go, then I will most likely exercise my right to not be a part of that. So would just like a simple friendly explanation of what was wrong in that thread that made it get locked is all.

That thread was an open and flagrant violation of the ToS through political discussion. Since I haven't formally announced that the relaxation of the rules in that regard have been rescinded as of yet, that's not why it was closed however.

It came up in the staff group chat that someone had gone as far as to talk about waterboarding the kids. That's just too much for a website that brands itself as family friendly. That's what got it closed.

Pre-announcement heads up for y'all: the ToS are going to be coming back now that we have a sufficient number of Staff who are willing and able to enforce them. Please see the sticky thread from 2013 for an example of the stuff we plan to re-implement. The actual enforcement will be different however, in order to reflect the times.

Everyone seems to complain about how good MFK was back in the "good old days", so we're going to bring back the rules that made it that way.

The lounge is a luxury, as long as there's peace we are happy to let it be, but when difference of opinion crops up, and people start to post inflammatory comments, and try to incite others to break TOS, then those kinda threads are a pain and a waste of our forum resources.

The waterboarding comment that someone made was very clearly tongue in cheek, I don't think anyone with common sense would take that seriously. I fail to see how that thread was political. It was simply a discussion about things that are happening in society these days, no one took it to a political place, and myself and others actually made sure we did NOT take it to a political place.

What rubs me the wrong way is over the past couple months there have been a couple threads with a few very blatant problem members that "should" have been axed, yet were not. Simply because they leaned a certain way it seemed. Yet ones like this one seem like it is being put under a microscope to find a reason to lock it.

I appreciate you taking the time to let us know why it was locked. I simply do not agree, but that is fine.
