Setting up a new tank. Should I have painted the stand?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes you should have painted the stand and NO you should not use that stand for that tank. I suggest either getting a stand that fits the tank properly or using cement blocks to support the stand.

Tbh that stand is a accident waiting to happen. The corners of a aquarium of that length should be fully supported. To answer your previous question yes I would have painted it.

Really? I was more concerned with the baseboard heaters breaking the glass.

Yes I would do what D deeda advised you to do until you get a stand for that aquarium.

I actually meant use cement blocks to support the tank, not the stand.

It is very easy to accidentally knock that tank off that stand even though it is only halfway full. I do see that you also have a canister filter on that tank so you really can't set it on the floor.

The baseboard heaters don't normally get that hot so I wouldn't worry about them breaking the glass from heat.

If you are handy and have some basic tools, you might be able to make a simple 2 x 4 wood frame to support that tank properly.
