New Flowerhorn follow up questions

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ohh, seems like you might have got a bad one out of the batch then. I still don't trust that seller.
Ya, I’m not sure if I got scammed or just got a bad one. The seller has 100% positive. I just won’t buy fish on eBay anymore.

I had to go double check to see if it was the same person I seen...one seller on there basically said it's the luck of the draw because you can't tell what they're going to look like at that size. I don't mind playing the lottery a little buying a pile of fry with some things, but it's a little irritating that people are just basically pouring, in many cases, culls out into the hobby to make a quick buck.

Mine might turn out ok, it’s colored up a little since I posted this, I post another pic in a couple weeks.

Do you have a pic? Did he get a kok of any kind? It’s kinda of hard to tell in the pic, but mine is kind of a greenish color. I’m definitely keeping him. His personality has really started to show and is making up for his lack of color.
I'll have to figure out how to post pics on here again. Haven't done it in years, since photobucket changed their system. He/she does have a pronounced hump on its head but it's not huge like you see in higher end flowerhorns. Looks more natural in my opinion. But it may be female for all I know, which could explain that I guess.

When you create post there will be a button "Attach files", you can use that to put pictures in post.

Sorry bro but looks like you've been ripped off -- classic bait and switch marketing...The fish you received is not a "Super" Red Dragon and nowhere near the grade/quality they have advertised with that photo from the same group.

Yes it should get better looking and more colorful than it is now -- and of course it can still be a good looking fish with a cool character you can love -- but the chances of it looking like the one in the pic are practically nil.

This.

FH breeders/vendors aren't morons, a good breeder will sort out the potential rock stars at an inch or less, and keep going from there. There is no accident here. Agree 100% with Barrett, you got gotten. That SRD may not even be part of the pair from the fish that you received. I trust online FH vendors as far as I can throw them.

As far as diet, I raised all of mine over the years on NLS, exclusively. As others have stated, best to buy in bulk, not little packets.

Good luck with your new fish.

His color has improved a little since I posted this, but there is no way it’s going to look anything like the ones in ad. I think I was definitely mislead and could have went to pet smart and got the same quality FH for less. I’ll post another pic of him in a few weeks for comparison.
Thanks
