I tested ammonia few days ago it was between 0.25 and 0.5 ppm. I will be adding seachem stability for sometime

Day 7:
pH 7.0
Ammonia 0 ppm
Nitrite 0 ppm
Nitrate <5 ppm
KH 45 ppm
GH 63 ppm

Fish is not added yet. I think pH and KH should be high, any inputs?

Picking up peices from old threads

Flowerhorns are hybridized central american cichlids that generally occur in harder water. Over time soft water will cause stress in the fish that orginate from hard water areas, and cause them to lose minerals faster than they need to. You need to raise your gh and kh to hard water parameters. Get a GH and KH kit. Kh should be at least 4 degrees. Raise the GH to around 10 degrees.

In degree my KH is 2-3 and GH is 3-4. That's low. I am adding few crushed corals I have in filter for KH and equilibrium for GH.

The crushed corral will also help raise your PH. 7.0 is low for a flowerhorn. Between 7.3-7.6 is a better range in my experience. Just dont do filling your tank or filter with crushed corral because it will send your ph way to high. I use 8-10 cups of crushed corral in the filers on my 180 gallon and it holds the PH around 7.6, when my tap water is 7.0

I used less than 2 cups for 40 gallon.

I asked the breeder for tank params he kept fish in, he had pH 7.0 and temp at 29°C. So I am planning to start there. Will fish get a shock on water changes if bring tank pH up and my tap is at 7.0 pH.

If the fish was used to ph7.0 why not just keep it there as your tap is ph7.0?
