Choosing mini monsters

I don’t think any of the killifish or non-cichlid are qualified to be mini monster. They may have the predator look, but lack the attitude of a monster fish which must be interactive, bold and outgoing.

Many convict species are interactive. Africans tend to be shy except for Mbuna and jewel cichlid. In one ACA convention I went to, I spot a 4 inch fire mouth attacking glass. It turned out the same fish had won multiple fish show award, and you can find it in YouTube.
I dont really care about it being interactive. Yes, it would be nice for it to come out, bit right now i just look for a fish that could thrive in this tank and eat guppy fry.
This is how the tank looks right now. I'll probably add some swimming plants, moss and maybe anubias.

So what you are looking for is not mini monster, but mini predator. There are many mini predators to choose from, and some can be shy. My pinktail Chaceius is the most skittish predator.

Also bear in mind that if the predators were raised with dry food, many would lose the instinct to hunt for prey. You have to retrain them to hunt. My Chalceius leaves small fish alone that can fit into their mouth , so are many of my large cichlid that were never fed live food.

I did not know there was a difference.
So, are there any other mini predators? The Chalceius looks great, but its far too big.

Both of those would be good choices. Could even have some tankmates. My fry control fish of choice is the south American bumblebee catfish
