Decided to replace the 20L in the garage rack with a 36"x12" footprint, 30 gallon tank. A bit more user friendly for fish I keep. Thinking of moving my Arrowhead puffer in there and have the 65B available for something else.

My garage rack is so close to being finished but I need to level off the rack. It seems that the sloep in the floor starts where the rack ends. I need to put something the thickness of a paint stick (apx 1/8") under it to level

Once complete, I have another 75g available to grow fish out or do something with. The garage project has been going on and is part of my amphilophus project since I needed growout tanks. If I didnt have the big bichir in the 300 I probably could have just grown out the cichlids in the big tank but with 18"-20" polys I am better off growing them out a bit first.

Funny thing about this project is that it made me realize how much I hate the growout process and the constant fish changeover/rehoming. I really miss my big pearsei and the stability of having the same stock. I have a feeling the two 75's will just end up with other fish as keepers once the stock has been determined for the 300.

Apparently the Hoga in the 300 must feel really threatened by the Petsmart devil. It chases it a lot now. Im thinking the Hoga may not work well in this group. The other midas and Petsmart devils seem much more gregarious in nature and like to hang out together. I knew it would present a challenge keeping multiple amphs...

The hoga in the 300 is a pill. Really going at the next sized down fish. The hoga in the 75 however has started to accept its life in the smaller tank and seems pretty calm, lol

I had kept the one that was timid and more colorful in the 300 and its turning out to be a terror and the bad boy has turned good. Maybe I should swap them? I will let a bit more time pass. I dont see any major damage to the Petsmart devil at this point. At the growth rate of the devil compared to the Hoga, the dynamics could change soon. The devil is getting a nice little nuchal hump and putting on size much faster.

The hard part of this project has been the 'teenage' stage Im going through with these guys and will continue to go through for a bit. Adult amphs seem to mellow out much more.

Disaster! lol, that got your attention.

The 75 I recently got from Petco has a cracked frame and they dont have any replacement. They do have a 90 however. Was so close to getting it set up... it was supposed to go on the far left rack on top.

Say what you will about big box pet stores but the customer service was outstanding. The sale was over, it was past 30 days, they had no 75’s in stock to replace mine and didnt have any coming in till October so I got their 90 at the 1/2 price sale. Actually glad I did. Thicker glass, better silicon job. Very happy with this Petco experience. Just need to get another background now.
