For what is worth, I’ve kept rotkeil, liberifer, Severus, and many other generic esfasctiatus and NONE ever ate plants. Lots of misinformation out there. They’ll only bother them if they are on their territory.
Even though Severum are said to be herbivore, none in my experience eat plants in my planted tank. While not eating plants, certain individuals or under pairing situation will destroy plants. I currently keep Rotkeil and red spot Severum peacefully with plants. But I had to get rid of one turquoise esfasciatus that tear up plants all day long for no reason and never ate them. I also had to split up a breeding pair of red spot severum that used to claim plants for territory, now living separately and peacefully with plants.

plus I feed a varied diet like you both do so I was hoping for the best and expecting a hurdle that never came. Just like I was expecting someone who just signed up to MFK to comment about the severum and GTs lol. I appreciate you guys spreading the knowledge(and love). Thanks

I appreciate it, they eat everything that gets dropped into the tank even the pleco wafers sometimesI kept many GTs in the past and can attest that they like to dig. So if you have substrate plants, you have to protect the root zone with physical barrier. My strategy is to avoid rooted plants in substrate entirely, but to focus on epiphytes attached to rock or plant rooted plants in secured pots.
What lights do you use? And how successful are you growing your pla ts with them?

Such a nice tank. Once I get my substrate in I'll be adding swords and crypts and hopefully my tank will come out half as nice as yours. What type of substrate are you using
