which Brachyplatystoma species is this?

Definitely not a vaillantii, at least mine never looked like that. But I’m not an expert by any means.

thebiggerthebetter thebiggerthebetter is the Brachyplatystoma extraordaire, he should be able to give a positive ID for ya. kno4te kno4te is pretty good at IDs as well, he might know

I too agree with your ID of a true piraiba. Looks like the Brazil / Peru variant. The price is not bad at all.

Thanks, I definitely will buy one of these catfish, I will post when I get it.
If you will, keep updating your thread on your piraiba indefinitely so we all grow our knowledge together synergistically.
