Vieja synspilum/melanura

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Lighter substrate might help w/ the colors.
I have thought about this...but my sand was too expensive and now I don’t want to replace it haha. I might try swapping out the black background and see if that does anything

I can notice more growth on the babies, they are also looking more mature even though they are still small

couple of pics of babies, Sub adult, comparison picture, and one of the brave little HRP that would take on any fish regardless of size.

I have a fish murder in my tank....someOne keeps eating the smaller fish, so far I’ve lost the sword fish, my male Congo, two gold barbs, possibly one of my new L333 tiger plecos (haven’t seen one for a couple of days). Two possibilities are the jack or the rope fish

today I also lost 6 other fish during my routine water change. With spring runoff here I should have checked my tap water prior to the water changes. I lost a cobra male guppy, 4 Congo tetras, 1 gold barb.

I sold all my sae’s and fling foxes.

I’ve posted my ropefish and gold jd for sale.

all my synspilum survived the water change.

Today was a hard day. I just stood in front of my tank staring at the dead fishes...my bf (who doesn’t care for my fish or the fact that they take up space in the house) knew it was shocking and asked if I was okay and if I wanted him to dispose of the bodies.

The re-homing went quick!
The female jack and ropefish have been re-home. I found both tiger plecos so that makes me feel better. They have gown a little bit.

tank stock is very slim now and the tank almost look empty again. Cannot wait for the syns to grow up and pair.

my tank was building up to about 10ppm of nitrates between water changes. I might be able to stretch my water change schedule a few days longer or make smaller water changes...I’m not interested in losing more fish during the spring run off.

Sorry to hear the issues ☹

Syns looking great! I like my syns so much I'm contemplating getting rid of most fish in my 240, and potentially keeping just a pair.

What other fish do you keep?
That’s a nice big tank!

Bifas, Midas, argentea, heterospilus.

Overall a very successful community of an aggressive bunch, but slowly I see the tides turning.

Here's my thread, haven't updated on a while though.
