If you are happy with what you are doing, and the results that you are seeing then by all means stay with it. I personally tend to avoid terrestrial based plant matter as much as possible, which means that Tetra typically gets a failing grade from me.

I prefer commercial foods that focus more on raw ingredients from aquatic sources, fish krill, squid, shrimp, and plant matter from same, various algae, seaweed, kelp, etc. Even with a dovii I would ensure that it is getting at least some aquatic plant matter in its diet.

Somewhere in the 2mm/3mm range should be fine. Buy a small container as he will grow out of that pellet size quickly.
On my red devil this is a black spot at the end of its tail about the size of a grain of salt should i be worried???

No, these fish are peelers. When young they are a more basic silver/black color to hide away from predators better.
Now as adults when they heal from a scratch etc it first comes in as the fry color then peels to the adult color.
