in the empty 55 gallon, any thoughts on getting a lima shovelnose catfish? i know they get decently sized, but they are more of a calmer catfish, so would this work out? thanks
It’s not a active swimming fish but more of posting up on decor/plants.in the empty 55 gallon, any thoughts on getting a lima shovelnose catfish? i know they get decently sized, but they are more of a calmer catfish, so would this work out? thanks![]()
Elongatus will get 12in. True limas will get big to about 18-20in. Just don’t know what you’ll get but don’t see many over 1 ft in the US.Lima Shovelnose can get 2 feet. Elongus Shovelnose gets a foot. In a 55 gallon I would think a footlong catfish wouldn’t do good in a 13 inch width tank. What about bumble bee catfish, I know of 3 species, South American, Asian, and giant. Getting sizes of South American 4in, Asian 8in, and Giant 12in.
aight thanx yall! not sure yet, but def not a true limaIMO even an Elongatus would get to big for a 55, I would go with a Hoplo. Mine is one of the most active fish I have, he is active all the time and will take food out of my hand.
