My recent hybrid project ( not flowerhorn)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah I know what you saying. Will move substrate soon and put down some black gravel or something. I'm used to raising kamfa flowerhorn with a needed higher ph to increase kok potential. Was hoping head might get a big larger with the vieja genes in it. I wasn't hoping for a huge water head like some srd.

Very nice! I know you said not flowerhorn, but down the road tossing one of the really pearly males to a nice koky zz female could get you a start on a nice line of kamfa.

maxstillen maxstillen , keep in mind that your new hybrid might develop a bit of a bump for a head due to the Vieja genes. (HE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL BY THE WAY.) But I'm glad to hear that you are not expecting him to have a big head because that is not likely. Kamfas do "tolerate" a slightly higher PH but not the levels you will get from having a crushed corral substrate, at least not for good long term health of the fish. I do use corral in my canisters to help stabilize my PH. In terms of the black substrate, I used to love it, until it made my flowerhorns look like charcoal in color. I wonder how black substrate will effect the color of your hybrid?

Oh okay i didnt know that i thought they were a 2 species hybrid also didn't i thought the red texas was a color morph of the Texas cichlid
Red Texas are blood Parrot x Cyanoguttatus or Carpintis. Blood parrots are synspilum x midevil( most red devils or Midas aren't pure and are mixed with each other). Flowerhorns are unknown but it is known that they are crossed from many different species.
