how do i find a pair of convicts?

ok, gotcha. got some cory cats in there for clean up, that no good?
Cories are an ify one. The convicts could pick on and bully em but they could just as easily leave em alone too. Imo I would add in some small caves or pieces of drift wood for em to escape to if need be. If ya have extra slate that's perfect for making small caves. The cave don't need to be very big or deep it just needs to be a tight enough fit to where the convicts would have to dig em out just to get at the cories.

sounds great i think ima put a pvc and i have some plants for fry hideout, and i have some slate in there. also what temp should it be?

I would remove the cories. They will predate on the eggs and get beaten on by the convict pair.
I'd add both a small cave structure for them and some slate to give them a couple options. They like to lay their eggs in the cave or on a protected rock/slate. Once the eggs hatch they usually will move the wigglers to a pit in the sand. The sand does not need to be too deep.

i got gravel, that good too? i got a 2 inch diameter pvc pipe, it's 5 inches long. and 5 stacked peices of slate. also some plastic plants for the fry eventually they will need a hiding spot. we all set? temp at around 76-78 (changes because the room is cold)

Well, in most instances you can just get a pair, add water and feed...I just got a small definite pair and the male will have nothing to do with the female and I've had to separate them!

Another pair I got a while back paired instantly and are some of the nicest looking fish I've ever kept. See attached photos.
