Hello; I have changed my use of cash to a degree. The main thing I do is segregate cash I get back in change. I do not wash it but that is a good way to be sure. I did think about that. So far I have a sequence of places to put money. Say I get back home with change picked up that day. I put that money in a place by the door. I let it stay at that place for around a week. It then is moved to a different place. I have a third place for money that has been around for over a month now and that is what I pick up when I go out.I read that they destroyed paper money in China. I asked my local bank if they sanitized the paper money. They don't. I am afraid for my mother handling money to pay the people who help her. Withdraw funds from the bank once a month. Hot water, soap, bleach. Rinse and dry then iron every bill. Tedious and time consuming, but I feel that it lowers risk to my mother.
Your plan is better than mine for sure. I guess if I had to make a more simple disinfectant for money I would make or buy a UV (ultraviolet ) light box to put things like money in. The box would have to be made safe for our eyes.
I like cash and do not want it to go away. I just do not have much confidence in electronic money. Likely I will not have much choice.
