M Lutea - Stress vs Internal Parasite

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes everything but IALs. Maybe I can get Melafix and Pimafix (not sure). Literally every medicine though. We have salt hahaha!

thats lame....

they thought folks were misusing it? man, im sure it would be big crime to bring across the boarder...

local mam arrested with fish meds... smh -

so, this guy - (in video)

found him lying on his side no obvious signs of damage, guessing internal?

one of the other larger - im assuming male is all shredded - my large syno also pretty shredded -

thinking the addition of the redfin piebald... those guys are terrors...

any who - took out all the healthy, non critical looking, non sunken belly, and added to the piebald tank....

ive got the pleco, 4 syno, 1 shredded fin, 3 sunken belly, and this guy in a 75g

everyone except the shredded fin guy are segregated in breeder boxes (another $50)

i love the fish but easily spent $300 to save these guys now... i do have all kinds of meds for future use... hopefully don’t need...

i’ve changed the water and added salt - also removed rocks so i can check on fish more often - my large yellow syno may lose his eye sadly ? - also pretty scraped up, think rocks not so friendly to him

what should i do for this guy in the video? lethargic - internal injury?

this guy must have something internal... hes not flapping his fins like the others just sitting on bottom, got an air stone going under him...

he may be on his way to Valhalla ?

I'm sorry :( I started writing but it it's gone now. I too lost the really affected fish while treating. They both looked really bad and emaciated by the time I got to treating. My goal was to save the others from contracting it or the ones that aren't showing major damage yet. I could say the Levamisole killed me fish, but in reality, it was already too late for them. I am not surprised you lost him (although sad), it just goes to show the is a real problem that has to addressed imo. I stopped seeing emaciated fish or losing fish about 6 months after last treatment (because my infestation was extreme by the time I noticed the problem and I couldn't save them all). But no more emaciation or dying 2 years later tells me I got the worms in 2017 and prevented any new infestations.

this guy was plump and not one of the skinniest....

i’ve got the 5 worst looking ones segregated, may treat the other tank with general cure or dewormer-

man these piebalds ripped my large syno 4” a new arse... his eye may be lost too.... i may keep a small group of these terrors... but... i dunno...

what did you lose?

these 5 seemed to be on the mend think the Levamisole helped!

I'm glad the Levamisole seems to have helped. Be sure to do a second and even third treatment 2 weeks apart. Since it seems the dewormer is helping, I would treat the main tank also with Levamisole.

Was the plump dude in the main tank? No meds? I lost 2 cichlids (1 angel, 1 EBR) when I was treating that were looking bad. And I was very surprised to lose my big blue angel, since he was just spawning and looked healthy. But he just dropped dead. I didn't want to say it bc it seemed it might be the meds, but I'm sure something had to be wrong with him for him to drop dead like that. I never had angels die like this ever. The angel in the earlier pic who shed some intestinal lining died within the year after treating. She just continued to demise. I lost two old lemon tetras and 1 red phantom, but I can't say they died of worms. They were just old (almost 7YO). One of the lemons looked emaciated before he died, but he also had bad cataracts and think he was blinded. I still have one of the lemons and one red phantom. All together before treatment, during and after I lost 7 cichilds and not sure how many tetras. The worm was rampant in my tank for 2 years before I noticed :eek3:

I'm sorry about your beat up fish. Unfortunately I don't have experience with very aggressive fish. I hope you are able to figure something out.

dang, sorry to hear that...

this is a new dynamic of fish keeping...

yes, the plump dude - has the injured tail,

i only took out the robust looking ones and left the 4 skinny and 1 with injured tail in the original tank

Oh then i'd deworm the tank with the robust fish just in case. So hard. I had to deworm all my tanks too (any of the fish that didn't fit into my big tank to treat).

Awwww :( Such a bummer you lost the one with the chewed up caudal. Idk what to think or say, but seems weird a healthy fish would die from a dewormer and the more affected ones do not. Don't know if you were thinking that or not anyway. Sorry you lost him.

It is a new dynamic. I haven't hardly bought any new fish after that tbh. I had to put in place a new more extensive QT program.
