Why not try a hardier fish like a Senegal Bichir instead of the eel? Easy to feed, can hold its own in a community tank that size and has that eel like body. Would be more tolerable for inevitable mistakes in water parameters and cleaning routines.
Now that I have done a little more research (a few minutes), I realize that a Senegal or Gray Bichir gets to around 12”. It needs to be in 90 gallon tank ?
If you get a captive bred sen or albino, it may only get up to 10 inches.
Pretty sure the eel will outgrow a CB Senegal. Where are you getting the size/info from, just curious. If you’re open to upgrading to a bigger tank, you’re selection gets much bigger.
You don’t need a large tank to breed shrimp. A 10 gallon would suffice but you should get a Neocaridina species like cherry shrimp. They breed easy and the shrimplets are sturdy. Ghost shrimp go through a planktonic stage...doubt most of them would make it
What country do you live in, most local fish stores have Senegal’s like PetSmart, and most are captive bred now.
