What do you guys do for work?

My grandfather told me "Never make your hobby your job." I have done that twice. While I lived in NYC providing custom aquarium installation and maintenance and as a licensed aircraft mechanic. I have worked on small general aviation aircraft, commercial airliners, and military cargo. Currently, I work for the greatest commercial aircraft manufacturer in the world.
I hold an associates of applied science in aircraft maintenance and a B.S. Cross-cultural studies with a minor in aviation. The degree literally is bs.

Your grandpa, much respect, should have told you or all of us, to make the job our hobby, in order to be successful.
Also, the titles of an education will become irrelevant one day I believe, probably not in my time because there is too much money involved. It should all be about what one has learnt throughout their life one way or another, how much one is willing to learn and keeps learning, and how one has applied that learning for improving the world, instead of being a sheep, following the orders of a very imperfect world.

Apart from that, I made my hobby a job once and I lost my hobby, so I get the advice of the wise man.

How did doing your hobby as a job work for you?

It was a good thing I left the aquarium service company because it was enabling my habit . I love working with my hands. I perform all the maint on my 2 motorcycles and some on my other vehicles. My wife is ecstatic that I no longer need to provide my own tools for work. Another supported habit.

I might stir up a war...but why not steer the topic to what one has contributed to the world and still does, and instead of gloating to which modern slavery organisation they worked for and which brainwashing school shaped their minds, they instead share what they did that mattered to other people or animals besides themselves, in these times or any times. ...

Currently working full time at a crematorium burning Covid-19 deceased.

Just doing my best to earn a crust, serving a useful purpose during the crisis and trying to avoid catching it.

At least I keep warm.

That is devastatingly sad and hilariously funny all at the same time!

Because I am not a slave. I am free to change my employ at anytime as are you. A slave has no choice. I am not tied down nor forced to do what I do.

That just seems a little antagonistic. People's jobs are part of what they contribute to the world.

Haha that's great! If there was money in woodworking I'd totally do it full time!

Just small projects, I did a fish tank shelf, garden boxes and the like. It is very enjoyable! My first blacksmith project was completed with some pallet boards and a router planing jig.

Wood is somewhat expensive here. Next job is finding a drive belt for a lathe my friend gave me
