How would you stock a 72x18x16 aquarium?

I've grown bored of my 90 gallon and want to redo it. It was first a denison barb tank, then I had it as geophagus and catfish tank. Currently it's a Central American tank. I already have CA cichlids in my 210 gallon and after the couple of grow outs are large enough, I'd like to change the tank. The one caveat is the tank also houses a three stripe mud turtle, though he's incredibly fish tolerant.

I've tossed around the idea of some apistogramma and rams with a few large tetra school, or an African river biotope, but nothing is really jumping out at me.

A huge group of pictus cats, I've always wanted a tank like this. Lots of long skinny branches for them to cruise around and it would be a very unique and active tank.

Barb has a lot of potential.
I really enjoy my Dawkinsia - Filament Barbs.

How about a native tank to switch it up- can make it a southern US biotope including the turtle. I bet you could make it really stunning, almost like a paludarium with a log or something coming out of the water for the turtle to bask. Sunfish and darters for the fish, or whatever you can find.

I like this idea but without the turtle because darter's are very sensitive to any decline in water quality. A turtle will create a huge bioload so massive water changes and optimum filter maintenance will be required. Rainbow Darter are found in the riffs of streams and river"s in Ohio so strong current will be ideal in the setup.

A group of Teleogramma cichlids and a school of Congo tetras, in a sandy/rocky tank with scattered anubias in the rocks would make a nice display in a long shallow tank.

I used to keep them, I honestly don't think the tank is big enough to house adults. I would love to od a dawkinsia tank again though.
