Yes, frogbit up top lots of tall rocks, and octopus plant. Lots of hiding places.
Regani is a bigger one than compressiceps.

you are right, and it looks like it can tolerate a higher ph as well. Looks like a single Regani is the way to go.
A decently planted tank is enough with 1 cave/pot/pipe. See how it does as you throw guppy fry in there tirstSo it would really be ok by itself in a planted 20h with lots of hiding spaces? Would I need dither fish to ever see it?
I have some tiger barbs I could throw in there.
Dwarf pikes would work, I think bumblebee cats would work too since I’ve seen them scarf up neonsAny pike cichlids that would work in a 20g?
The dwarf pike is going to be just fine and you will see it plenty. I like regani but the comp will be just fine. I was thinking bumblebee cat, but I wasn't sure if it would eat the convicts fast enough. Pike killi Belonesox was a good too. I wish I thought about that. If you have ever seen a big one they are pretty impressive. The pike cichlid will hunt fry out of every crevice, the Belonesox will wait just outside of the cover and destroy anything that ventures out.
