How many bichirs in a 300 gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yeah since you mentioned the shelves I've been thinking of different ways to do it so far I'm thinking multi tiered driftwood columns with stone tops maybe and also doing some suction cup/silicone acrylic shelves those I would probably coat with silicone so I could decorate them with sand, plants and small rocks.

Just make sure it’s very sturdy and strongly secured to the glass cause ones the waters in you pretty much have to live with it

For sure about that I was thinking slate tile as a base and columns at least 3 inches in diameter drill and counterbore the stone and secure it with ss screws. If I stagger the columns I can secure each one top and bottom.

Hao Hao how many?
No definite answer. Depends on what kind and what size and what you are trying to achieve. Can be anywhere from 1 to 50 ?

I bought 21 babies all nothing more than 3” and put them all together in my 180 in March/April
6 Endlicheri
4 lapradei
3 delhezi
6 ornate
2 nile

One endli lost a front flipper in a baby time feeding, and one nile lost a tail for a little bit while young too. Feeding time is awesome to watch (I work out of town most of the time so it’s via webcam& autofeeder). The more the merrier. Just keep up with the filtration/water changes. I have about 40g of water wysteria to hide and hang out in along with driftwood.

So at least 21?

Where’d you get 2 baby niles?

It seems hard enough to fine a 15 inch one let alone a baby. I would reset the market for one of them ?

If you’re in Canada send me a PM, I’ve seen a few out there recently under 5” still. If not my fish guy is pretty damn good. Finding bigger guys seems to be more difficult.
Here they were coming home with me. Unfortunately one has lost its pattern/colour now with black sand/background and probably some stress and blends in with the laps who also need a switch to red sand at some point.

I feel like the issue is going to be less of how many CAN you put in there and how much money do you want to spend with that tank size
