Wow! I thought ariberto was the only with a huge one but that one looks fantastic! I really want one but they seem to go after aros the most and I dont wanna lose any aros.
Thanks bud appreciate that!Yeah mine was good for a while with the black aro I had with him for a few yrs. What happened I believe was that the aro used to chase the tiger around and was the dominant fish in the tank for a long time. Unfortunately one of his eyes got infected even after meds and treatment sep from the main tank he landed up losing the eye along with his dominance in the tank. I believe the tiger realized that and after a few weeks of returning him back into the tank the tiger took advantage of it and bit off a 6" section of his body from his tail up! I was shocked it was a clean cut and I had no other choice but to put him down. He was close to 11 yrs old too! But what can u do?! Now I leave the tanks swimming area open for him. The tfb project failed miserably so that's that.....

Wonderful tiger!
Have you considered really small tetras or other schooling fish. The tiger is probably at a size where chasing down fish under 5 inches isn’t worth it’s time.

Ty appreciate that! Actually yes I was thinking of going with a big school of smaller tfb like "3+/-....I'm waiting til after the new yr to do that since my suppliers are running on fumes these days. I asked them to get me a group of 15 of them so I can at them together for a week or 2.

Lol i take that back, I got a baby gatf to grow out I just couldn’t resist how cool they are and their crazy teeth. But it did seem that your project and setup was a success for years until the goliath got past 2 feet? Cause from what im seeing, some get like 1-2 feet and then a few very rarely get to 3 feet to 40 inches and those are the ones that end up killing a lot of tankmates. Is that true? Did he kill any tankmates when he was younger? Anyways, I mean thats still super crazy that after so many years of living together he just snapped one day

Yes he took out 3 big silver dollars like 2 yrs ago and was good until about the past yr where he landed up mangling the aro, he ran down a lince cat a few months back that was fine for the past yr until the aro was gone looks like chased him down and rammed him because he had a bruise on his side behind his gill area I noticed one day he started to flip over and had difficulty swimming, I did a big water change got him right again and a day or 2 later caught him jumping out of the tank and getting caught up in the netting above it, I had no choice but to put him down, then the 2 big tfb u see in the past at the beginning. I believe they become very brazin and aggressive towards tank mates after they pass the 2ft to 30" mark to ones as big as they are. Anything smaller is dinner at any size I find. Johnathons did the same it took out some big fish like army and Dorado both predators like itself and his has big bites taken out of them. I did add a pr of irwini cats at 14 and 17 inch nothing he can hurt due to their structure and swimming area so I'm not concerned with them. Look there is very little to no info on these types of fish out there to go by due to their very low survival rate past 2 ft so anything we learn from anothers experience is a win for future tiger keepers!
