African Pike and Vittatus compatible

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I was thinking more on the lines of an understocked tank. If I get only 5 fish would you think chances of them fighting are greater?
Notice how many odoes and atf types jiyowel has. It's not one on one, it's 4 target fish to 1, hence why it is currently working for them. Your planned stocking doesn't have that many target fish.

I would say compatibility is not the norm. If you are fine with the cost of losing or rehoming one of them, then go ahead and try it.
Yeah this is the thing I wanted to avoid.. If more people think they are going to fight I might just not get the pike.

Yeah I get that the more fish the greater the success rate. Thing is, its only a 7x30" tank, I plan to keep them to adult sizes.

Depends on what fish you have. If you have 1 atf 1 odoe pike and 3 tinfoil barbs. Less chance of fighting. Btw I wouldn't put the tatuaia with the atf and pike. Soon he would rip them. I had a tat before and he killed my atf. Plus the tinfoils are great as teacher fish. You could pellet train the atf and odoe ;)

Oh! Seems its one or the other then, I already have the tat and atf in separate tanks. Hmmm..decisions decisions?

Make sure to keep the updates coming...... ;)

I love ATF threads..... Unfortunately 99% end the same.

My experience with multiples is I always ended up with an alpha. So eventually just did what was best for the fish and went 1/tank. Unfortunately they dwarf most tanks that we consider decent sized once they get some size to them. Build speed so fast they easily kill themselves running into lids or sides of the tank. Even happened in a huge styro lined pond.

When trying groups I had best luck with the fish known as the "big eyes" or Tanzies back when I kept them. Much better luck then I had with Vatf. The only Gatf I had was a spaz. Took nothing to spook and got beat up whenever cohabed with other Tiggers.

In my opinion they are the Great Whites of freshwater monster fish.... Hard to say they do well in our glass boxes. :(

Maybe they do well in massive tanks, but for what I had they sure seemed like they'd need much much more room to be comfy enough for the grissle missle suicide mentality to no longer be a huge concern.
