Hi, I bought both Oscars as babies, the tiger about a month after the Lutino. The Lutino is a pig, eats everything very quickly and cleanly. The Tiger I am having trouble with. If he does get a pellet, he often spits it out. If I soak a pellet, he will sometime get it and chew it for 30+ seconds making a mess, it seems half the food goes out through his gills.

This is the food I have tried:
Omega One 4mm pellets, my current go-to
Hikari sinking cichlid pellets
Brine shrimp (makes a mess, mostly going out through his gills but he seems to like it)
Cichlid Flakes (makes a mess, mostly going out through his gills but he seems to like it)
Peas, he loves peas but again, makes a mess through his gills and I have heard not to feed peas too often
Carrots, neither like it

I am going to try Northfin sinking 3mm next.

Any ideas or should I just keep doing what I am doing? He has certainly grown but not nearly as fast as the Lutino.

That's an odd one. This was years ago when my O was little, but the only food he wouldn't eat was NLS pellets. It's unusual to have one not eat hikari products.

Aside from looking tiny compare to the lutino, his colors look great, nice bright eyes, etc.

Does it poop normally?

one of my oscars also a tiger is VERY picky he only eats red colored large pellets and will somtimes eat little shrimp pellets that I feed my catfish while my other oscar a Lutino eats EVERYTHING shrimp all pellets, worms, tilapia, EVERYTHING so its weird they grew up the exact same oscars are just weird like that

I have not noticed any digestion issues with the tiger, although I haven't really noticed him pooping either.

I will try shrimp pieces, thanks for the idea.

I have never tried frozen krill up until recently and my fish go crazy for it. That and blood worms seem to be fail safe for my picky eaters

Any luck with Northfin for picky eaters? As I mentioned, I ordered it, just waiting for it to arrive. I heard that it's one of the best cichlid foods.

I too have sort of a picky oscar. May want to try Aquatic Foods black worm/ earthworm sticks. Almost like crack to my oscars and SD's. You can also try their black worm and beef heart cubes. I would try to target feed so that the smaller oscar can pick up some size to lessen the disparity.
