What you have is this but bigger.

We enthusiast typically don't like them due to the "filter" eating up precious tank space.

Not sure why those holes are there, maybe a previous owner got a bigger pump and needed more flow on the intake side. Tho being that low seems like it would skip the mechanical section. ?‍♂️
I spoke with him earlier he said it was for better flow to the sump he hand no media he ran it naked, fish only

The tank has 2 smaller chambers on each said of the larger chamber with 2 nozzles the 4 smaller chambers have notches cut out in a row on top

Basically it's a built in sump.

The slots are the overflow, how the water gets to the filter side of the tank. You can see in the first section is mechanical filtration, sponges, filter floss etc. Next section is just a channel to force the water up then back down thru section 3 that is the bio section. Here you put whatever you use for bio filtration be it rings, lava rock etc. Section 4 is for the return pump.

On yours it's looks as if one of the nozzles was put on by someone else, not the factory.

Plug those extra holes. Then I am sure TruVu has all the parts on their website if you want to get it back running as intended. Or at least learn the flowrate on the supplied pump and get your own pump for it and use whatever media you want for mech and bio.

I don't think truvue has made those aquariums in quite a while. I could be wrong. You may have a hard time using it as intended finding "original" replacement parts, like the skimmers they used to sell to go in the back. But you may be able to find a decent hob. I agree using it as is would be the quickest option to getting it up and running. Modifying the existing unit would to me be the next.

I'm not sure the easiest way to remove that chamber system. I'm sure it could be done but I don't know how. If it were glass it'd be simpler just cut out the silicone, but being acrylic I'd guess cut the acrylic and sand down the edges. I've not had alot of acrylic experience. I buffed out a 300g acrylic tank, that was a lot of work. I built an acrylic sump with help from a friend who made acrylic products. I messed up one of the welds on the sump. My friend was able to remove the panel using the weldon to loosen the two pieces but they were only minutes old. I don't know if that works on something that has been assembled for a long period of time.

That sounds like a solid plan i do want that few more inches! What do you think that would run$$?.
Its only going to be up for a few months because im moving .
I would wait to set it up but my stand for my 240 has termites !!? A.S.A.P save em or give them away!?‍♂️ btw this is the back, best i can do pics!!.... top & front of back 5 chamber the middle chamber has 2 Nozzles

I would say a couple hundred dollars in tools, cutting blades and grinding stones, sandpaper, buffing pads and compounds. It would be a lot of work and you'd probably be regretting it halfway through, but imo the tank is effectually broken with all that crap on it. That weir looks in no way able to handle the kind of flow I would want running in that tank.

There are a lot of folks who would probably urge against dissecting this tank, but I dont see any reasons not to. I dont think the filtration section adds anything structurally, only a hindrance in my mind.

Yea,i was looking at it last night thinking if i cut it out it wouldn't weaken the structure i mean its thick pieces of Acrylic but then again im no aquarium builder but still i see why removing it wouldn't work
I know a guy who knows a guy im going to ask him today. Real appreciat the great feed back you all have been very helpful .. ?? btw how old do you think this aquarium is? I tried too find it with a Google search and the Tuvu website but know luck on the tank itself or the media for the built in sump!
