"North America geographically spans from the arctic in the north, south, including all of Mexico, to the Panama Colombia border, and includes all the islands of the Greater Antilles (Caribbean)"
This is an interpretation, which has received support, but there are other alternative interpretations, also supported. It is arguable.
Several of the Caribbean islands have formed from independent volcanic activity. In addition, if this argument is to be taken in its entirety, then the Scottish Islands and parts of Scandinavian should also be included in North America as they were parts of the Appalachian mountains.

At one point in my 210 gallon (should be same footprint as the180, just taller), I had the Pearsei, Red Bay Snook, Regani, and hetrospila along with my group of lower jaw polys. As time progressed the aggression of certain fish got bad to where the pearsei though a giant (16") got pushed around because she was female and the others were male. In the end the pearsei stayed because it had the best personality and worked perfect with polys.

When I had the snook I had problems with it and food, namely the tilapia I fed to the bichir. It would gorge itself on their food. So bad that at one point I though it was going to die as it sat on the bottom of the tank for days. Even if you were to find another food to feed the polys, good luck trying to get it to hit bottom. The snook was a vacuum and ate a ton of food. This would be my concern trying to mix the snook in with the bichir. I think the ones TUIC has are the green ones, which I think look better anyway, I have the typical orange one. Great personality, big fish, but not the best mix with the bichirs.

Anything Vieja would work great in a community setup. I would recommend checking out your local fish store and see what they have. Maybe it could give you some ideas or possibly a starting point. Because shipping live fish is EXPENSIVE!!

Ironically the red bay snooks (Petenia) are like gone from the hobby. Used to be available at Petsmart. Both red and green are found in the wild.
