Leopard Frog and Tiger Salamander Compatibility

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i think they could live together for quite a while since leopard frogs are great at avoiding being caught but itd most likely be a matter of time. i think if you set up a basking area you might be able to pull off an anole and no biggie if it doesnt work because theyre like 5$ intended as feeders. i think a similar sized newt or salamander species could also work fine. maybe you could pull off a tokay gecko. i think a lesser siren would work absolutely fine. all of these are still very unideal.

Best tankmate is gonna be feeder crickets. They have the best chance of long term success. Even my anole lives in harmony with them (for a week).

I house sat a tiger for a summer in collage. Fed it roaches that I caught outside. That thing was a monster when it came to attacking anything that moved. Some a**hole at the airport confiscated it from my buddy while he was traveling home with it the next year.

on what grounds?

the escapee cricket is the most satisfying feeder to watch die.
Actually I have a rule. Any cricket that manages to get out is released outside. He has proven himself worthy of a better life, a chance to - and it was eaten by a frog...
That was until my anole cage had a defect that let crickets out the top, they were thrown back in.

My anole is crazy aggressive though. He starved a brown anole to death by not letting it get food (already limited due to COVID cricket shortages) and actually had to be separated from a giant day gecko bigger than it because he was so relentless. If convicts were a lizard. I recently upgraded his tank and am looking into giving him a harem of female green or brown anoles.
