Don’t agree with either of these. I held a very young flowerhorn in a 50 for a few months and I never thought it was big enough for him. ESPECIALLY knowing how big they do get. He didn’t even have a developed kok. Now I feel as a fish keeper if you don’t see anything wrong with having a certain fish in a certain sized tank that is either to small or dirty. Then you just don’t care enough about the fish’s good. Because realistically if you DID care you would understand “wow my fish is suffering due to these bad circumstances” the thing about breeding is stupid if you ask me because those people are doing it for money. Not the fish’s sake and not for the health of them. Just that bread.
Of course I agree it’s not the most ideal situation. But please… almost every single fish he has owned you all have asked him to return it. I get that the fish may not be suitable for the tank, but isn’t it a bit too much? The store must be wondering why every 2 weeks he returns a newly bought fish. Put yourself in his shoes, won’t you feel extremely fed up?Gonna have to agree withKolton13 here. A smaller breed of flowerhorn that doesn’t get over 8-10 inches in a 55, fine. But one that has already been identified to get bigger than the tank is wide is asking for problems. You can’t say that you want to keep the fish for its whole lifespan and then go ahead and do something that would dramatically shorten it. Just doesn’t work that way.
