Looks like my weekend might lead to some interesting things.

5x5x5 940g stock tank might come home with me from the in laws farm. It was originally bought from a fish farm.
So I talked to a welder friend of mine who says it is possible to cut a hole and do bracing for a viewing panel. Now I just need to figure out what kinds of epoxy would be best for the inside. Does anyone know if pond armour will adhere to aluminum?

It will adhear to steel and other metals I don't see why it wouldn't especially with proper prep.

So lots has happened since my last update on here.

the 180 acrylic that was super cheap, indeed leaked from a few different places. Lesson learned on being more patient with a tank that looks to be obviously out of whack. Fortunately the seller was solid to his word and gave me a full refund. He told me to keep the tank and said happy Father’s Day to me. I may have geared up a bit when that happened. Lol.

I ordered some new bass and also some tigs. When the bass came in a bit smaller than I expected and the tigs a bit bigger I got nervous and tried to scramble to buy another tank but I ran out of time and I decided to try and put 1/3 water in the 180 acrylic until I can sort something else out. It seems to be holding so far, hope it keeps up until I am ready to get the next tank up ?

I fixed up a bunch of smaller tanks so I could practice cutting glass, repealing tanks etc. Then I traded them all for a 120g grow out for my bass. After I acquired it I realized that it may be a nice sump for an upcoming tank…. We will see if I don’t break it first ??

I have been working to get the 6x3 fixed. Cut a piece of glass to patch the broken panel, stripped all the caulking and hope to get it all together tomorrow.

One or both of those tubs would be awesome for spawn production :naughty:

I’m only getting one. I will most likely use pond armour to coat the inside of it. Not sure exactly what I will use it for yet, kind of crappy dimensions for almost any adult fish that I plan to keep so might just be a nice grow out. But that plan will be on a back burner for now. I have 2 other tanks that need to be set up before I start working on that one. Lol.

I got the tank holding water for about 2 months. I tried to plumb it and found out that what I had done was not functional within the overflow. I tried to make sure all the teeth were caulked but I seem to have missed a small spot that allowed water into the crack.

I always hate sharing bad news, but sometimes it just goes that way.

after spending a bunch of time working on this tank, I have decided to cut my losses. I sold it to a fellow mfk’er who is quite fine with running it with canisters. It was too much of a kick in the ?? for me to have that tank and not be able to use the overflow. So I plugged the holes and shipped it off

Within a few days of sending the 270 to the new owner, I found an acrylic tank that was 6” longer but otherwise the same dimensions- so a 300g with a stand, sump, canopy, and a bunch of other goodies from a Sw teardown. It needs a bit of cleaning and possibly some buffing but I think it will be nice (some day). 491DFF3F-6850-456F-96CA-EBBC4EEA63DC.jpeg8A31BD7D-725A-4370-8EE6-D07556D9CE6B.jpegDB866197-0E2C-47DF-BDED-2E7AEB0B5064.jpeg4EAAFC28-25A4-4356-BE40-D4F74D826342.jpegDF952ADD-04FB-4968-B3F2-83135FD5ECCB.jpeg35C61171-C3E7-4F7D-8BB2-DD8F26A113B9.jpeg18DFF1AE-6C0C-4054-A8B7-40D910B5336B.jpeg
