How big should I go?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, polys do poop a lot, I also have a 180 with a 11” Delhezi and a 13” endi, along with a 5” kelberi, two 6” snooks and a CL and a pim blochi. I do 50% weekly on that and all is good, but I’m selling one of the snooks and the CL is there temporarily to deal with a snail problem. I’ll probably get something bigger at some point
I've had a Cb endli in a 90 from about when it was 4". It went to 12 " In a yr without tankmates. Once it got to 12" I felt bad for it and myself being a medical student have a lot of studying to do so I gave it to a friend who has a single bb aro in a 7*2.5*2 tank. He now lives there. Just the aro and the endli.

Did you document it's growth after that?
Besides, they are a pretty sedentary fish which hardly comes out during the day.

Sir I've had a bgk. They grow upto 12" In about 1.5 yrs if you take good care of it. And a 12" Fish in a 18" Tank with 5+ more fishes that can get upto 12-15" Is not a great setup imo.
Depends on the bichirs, CB sens usually don’t get much past 8-9” and if they do it takes forever. But ya, a 75 is small for a BGK for more than a couple years

Nice, how big is the endi now? I got mine last November at about 3.5” and it’s 13 now with most of the growth coming in the last 4 months

'Suffer' ,how so?
I have 5 bichirs ( I plan on getting more) and a bgk in a 75g.According to you that's overstocked.I feed every other day and perform 90% WCs every 3-4 days and my nitrates are under 30ppm at all times.
Aye, I agree that 5 polys in a 75g is fine as long as upper jawed. I’ve seen 75g with 10 upper jawed polys before. I have no experience with BGKs so I will not add on that.

Seeing 4’ aros in captivity is very uncommon.
Did you ever wonder why a fish that easily hits 4 ft in nature, hardly ever reaches its full potential in aquariums?
Could it be they are normally kept in too small spaces, where water quality quickly suffers, and they get stunted?

Hey,
@ ..puSkar.. ..puSkar..
Yes of course you will have to keep up on maitenance.
If you decide to go for such a setup you have to commit to it.

This plus bad genes do also play a role.

Don't quite know, the guy whom I gave the endli was a mutual friend I don't know him personally and he was way older than me. I have no idea what happened after.
