Just as a point of reference, in case I drop out of sight suddenly, I took my wife (64), my sister (65) and my 90 year old brother-in-law out to a Mexican restaurant last night for birthday dinner. Not my Idea. I usually prefer my own cooking, but it was pretty good.

Our county lifted the mask restrictions and people are allowed to dine out. (It will probably change again this week when Delta finally hits our town.)

They are all vaccinated but I am not, and I’m the healthiest one of the bunch right now. We will see if that changes . . .

I called my daughter earlier. She lives with her husband and my three grandkids, 12, 11 and 3.

My daughter and youngest grandchild had the coronavirus some months ago, the other three escaped it, on that occasion. She informed me that my son in law, and my other two grandkids have all just been tested positive for the virus!!

I'm not sure how this scenario will play play out now. If the three latest cases are a different strain to my daughter's and youngest grandchild's initial case, can my daughter and youngest grandchild be infected with the new strain?

Oh, and this is the UK by the way, where we're apparently back to "normal", living a pre covid existence!!

I'm sorry to say, but it seems that the answer to that is potentially, yes.

My oldest daughter and her family all got it. My youngest daughter and her family did not. We all associated in the days before. Also after recovery. It was actually rare in this town then, & I was surprised that they came down with Covid.

Then I found out they had gone traveling to the coast, where there are five times as many people per acre as there are here.

Fortunately that was months ago and she didn’t start an outbreak, except her three children. That being said I don’t know which of them brought it home.

COVID: 90% of patients treated with new Israeli drug discharged in 5 days - The Jerusalem Post (jpost.com)

Hello; This is a new article to me. I do not know about the source so diss it if such suits. It seems a drug that helps calm the immune response which causes serious distress (cytokene (sp) storm). Apparently this is a report of a second trial.
Could be good news to have a clinical medication that helps the body recover. At least it seems that way to my ignorant way of thinking. In addition to those too young to take the injections there are those who cannot take them due to medical conditions. On top of these two groups are some fully "vaccinated" who also get a serious case of the virus.

I figure this is the sort of thing that will good if true.

Yes, lots of drugs, and lots of studies currently taking place world-wide. Probably quite some time before we see any real world results, in peer reviewed papers. Then a long time after that before any of these treatments are approved for clinical use. Stay tuned ......

Hello; That it will take a long time to approve of clinical treatments does not follow after the emergency use of the covid injections. The pandemic was crisis enough to allow for emergency use of a few shots (mRNA vaccines). The emergency continues so there ought to be some logic for the allowed emergency use of promising drugs. The no-liability could be in place much the same as for the moderna shots I took. I could be warned that the drug is an emergency use item and i take it at my own risk.

The article states no problem, side effects, best as I can recall. That sounds similar to the claims about the mRNA vaccines. So a new drug with early good results and early good in low or no side effects. Add a low cost to that mix and it ought to be worth some level of emergency use. Maybe at first for those who are having serious problems and have little to lose?

'No doubt' Canada now in 4th wave of COVID-19 as cases spike across much of the country (msn.com)

The country's seven-day average for new daily cases is now close to 1,300 — an increase of nearly 60 per cent over the previous week, with cases ticking back up mainly in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Quebec.

"We're absolutely in the fourth wave," said Dr. Peter Juni, who is the scientific director of Ontario's COVID-19 Science Advisory Table. "There's no doubt about that."

...... and as of yesterday, we now have two confirmed Delta positive cases on one of our units where I work.

We've had 29 cases of Delta in the last 2 months, 16 fully vaccinated (masks optional until last week) and considering less than 25% are on site, it would be way more if 100% were here. And people locally are still fighting to not have any child (over 2) wear masks at school... I don't still understand why some nurses are fighting to not get vaccinated. I guess they forget that the hospital they work for can be held liable if the workers screw up.
