I have a red maple tree in my backyard and currently setting up a tiny half gallon shrimp tank and wondering if it’s safe to take a stick or two from the tree, strip it, boil it and stuff and add it as a mini driftwood look for the tank.
The tree has been here longer than this house and has a bunch of dead branches In it so I’ll climb a bit and get down a a dead branch and lick my mini driftwood from that.Need to use dried wood, branches that dropped off like six months ago or so. Don't use a branch that are still green. If it bends in half instead of breaking then it's still green.
Would taninis be okay for shrimp?Yes
It also produces red tannins so expect your tank to look like part of the scene of a murder
