I got a piece of mopani wood the other day and currently soaking and boiling it. I soak it overnight and boil it all day long. Are there any better ways to do this.

Leave it, it is good for the health your fish.
You can spend money on activated carbon. Mopani is one of the worst woods for tannins. It will take months to a year of water changes and changing out carbon before it quits leaching tannins. That's how long it took mine to barely leech any tannins.
Or just take the mopani out, and get something like malaysian driftwood which is not as bad at leeching tannins

I agree, some aquarists go to great lengths to keep tannins, due to their anti pathogenic bacteria health benefits.
Especially if you are keeping Amazonian, or some Asian species.
Which tank is this for? Maybe tannins are natural for the fish in question.

Leave the tannins. Let them dissipate naturally. Stay on top of your water changes and you will be fine.
Will the tannins be okay for the cave tetras and bb cats?
It doesn't harm the fish. It naturally reduces stress on fish, even hard water fish like mollies.
