rose queen hybrid rarity

thats kinda my point. these were simple to create. lot easier than trying to mess with red texas or flowerhorns and while maybe the price isnt as high its high enough im surprised more people dont breed these since they are used to create other hybrids..the amount of culling i had to do wasnt even that much. the only complicated thing i noticed is the fry if not given lets say 100 gallons they will destroy each other at about 2 inches
Amphilophus x parrot is what i used..u can go vieja x parrot but most of them arent gonna fade like you'd want the ones that do are going to most likely be more red than pink or orange,,ive heard this is one of the ways to get king kong parrots. yea possibly but problem was solved given enough room once i had put them into a stock tank all the aggression stopped they were in a 75 gallon when small till they started single out the weakest fry and killing it and going down the hitlist. never have seen fry this mean this small even biting me when my hand was in the water at 2 inches. main reason i didnt get a decent score of them is cause the parrot i used was really old so her batches of eggs wasnt a great yield where most my parrots put out 300 fry this one was lucky to get 50-75 that would make it due to so few eggs. the midas does tend to beat on the parrot at the start and sometimes post spawn so i guess that always can be an issue but havent had any casualties from it yet i just divide them off until i see the male start the head shake at that point i know i can remove the divider cause they about to spawn within 48 hours if they have spawned before..if they never have spawned might be months for them to get their first batch down
I actually breed a veija synpilum and blood parrot and I let the fry grow out to about 4 to 5 inches and they resemble a rose queen cichlid
yep not even sure if it matters how much vieja vs amphilophus is in it for it to turn out like this...to my understanding its anytime u mix amphilophus with vieja u get this result..this second pic looks exactly like mine,,i do have some that came out longer bodied and look more rose queen vs kkp
The fish in the first picture looks like RedSyn. I have an idea how to work with it further. A friend of mine had similar hybrids, but then we still did not know about RM.
So in order to get a red monkey out of the mix I would need to breed my hybrids to a kkp
