OK, so I need some help with this I’m a little new, actually very new with the flower horn.
I currently have a 250 gallon aquarium plus a 55 gallon aquarium inside my living room wall. I am replacing the 55 in the wall with a 90 gallon, requiring a little bit more demo And I am intending on moving my 15 inch common plecco from the 250 to the 90 with the flower horn.
I’m a little curious as to what substrate I should use, I’m leaning towards a sand substrate I just don’t want to clog the fx 6, And I’m curious as to what if any bottom feeders I could have in this tank with the flower horn

Hey there welcome to MFK and welcome to the world of flowerhorns ?.

I keep my FH over sand and have no trouble with filters clogging or any thing, You could alsways add a fine filter sponge to the intake of the fx 6 if your worried.

As far as tank mates go you may struggle some seem to get away with it but in my experience the flowerhorn will harass and kill any thing else in the tank, there loads of fun to keep and very interactive but super aggressive.

Good luck post some pics when you get the little guy.

Oh I’ll post and pics for sure, I’m excited and I want to get this 90 gallon tank off my kitchen table and into my wall LOL. Do you think even though plecco would be a bad idea

In a 90 gallon, IMO a 15" common pleco & an adult FH is too much of a bio-load to begin with, and clearly, with fish that are typically aggro, such as FH, there is a serious risk factor. I've owned several, all but one would not allow a tank mate in a 90, or a 125. Your call, but I hope that you enjoy water changes & filter cleaning because FH are genetically weak fish that easily succumb to health issues if/when water quality declines.

Yes, the bio load is my biggest concern, my plecco may not work over there, The water changes I do keep up with, I do 20% weekly

20% weekly isn't sufficient for even the pleco alone at its current size, nor for the flower horn alone once it puts on some bulk. It's not even close to sufficient if both fish are in there.
