Help with getting a car Phoenix and I can temporarily live in

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Damn, some buttwipe sideswiped my car the other night while it was parked out in front of the house. There is a considerable amount of damage to the driver's side door and fender, looks almost deliberately done.

It was a drunk. Pretty much every major street here now has multiple sideswiped cars, trucks, or RVs strung along street like that. Axles pushed around, whole sides of RVs ripped off. It happened to my dad's truck a few years ago.

Oddly enough,my neighbor who has a propensity for getting pissy drunk happens to own a big shiny Ford F150 which has been MIA since my car was damaged. He has been getting around in another car that someone has loaned him.

My moneys on the neighbor across the street.
Well, his truck has shown up and after mulling it over further his big ol truck is red and there was no red paint smears on the damaged areas of my car.
He must be drunk tonight though as he has his truck parked in the driveway of the house next to his and him and that owner are not on the best of terms lol!

Plot twist

So apparently they are consolidating two of these "motels" into a bigger one the city bought. The new place has 160 rooms instead of 2x40 rooms. The ones being vacated are being turned into covid rooms they say.
I should get my apartment before the move so probably get to miss all the fun.... Hopefully not after and get the joys of moving twice.

It doesn't sound like you and Phoenix are going to be settled anytime soon, or are you confident of putting down some roots without the aggro of a "surprise" move being thrown upon you?

The apartment I am getting, I will be paying 28% of my income for rent. The rest will be covered by an agency that helps veterans for two years. Monday he called to tell me that he was turning in the application fee check, so should be expecting to go down this week or next to sign the rental agreement.
During that two years time my Veterans section 8 voucher will get processed. This allows me a 1 bed house/apt for 20% of my income. While yes the first apartment will be temporary, the second apt/house is permanent.

So learning more every day how this homeless help system works.
When you first come into the system they do an intake questionnaire. From your answers they assign a "score". Your score is what position you are placed in line to get help. Higher scores go to the front, lower scores to the back. Apparently I have a low score.... There is a guy here quite simular to me, on disability with a car, he has been here in the motel for ten months and counting. It appears my hopes for a quick placement in an apartment are not going to happen.

I'd have thought that whoever decides policy would take into consideration guys such as yourself with a military past. Serving your country should at least give you a bit of an advantage.

I'm not talking furnishing the damn thing for you, or providing you with a free weekly food voucher, or laying a red carpet out wherever you go....although all those things would be nice, lol.

This is just basic stuff. Putting a secure and long term roof over an ex military guys head is the least they can do.

Hope things get resolved soon jex.
