Unpopular Opinions - Arowanas

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I just sat here and read about a guy's dislike of arowanas in an arowana thread. What a time to be alive. To each their own. Quality Vs Quantity. As for my opinion.....I hate fish deformities (eg. Short Body) being a "rare" thing and causing price to go up/trend. I mean maybe it's a fetish and I shouldn't be kink shaming.

MTS showing his dislike on arowana on a thread called Unpopular opinions -Arowana.
However sometimes loachman can get a bit loach crazy.

Scleropages should have also option to consume terrestrial plants too as it made up ~46% of jardini wild diet during drought.

In case anyone is curious.

I don't think that would be true. The study was carried out in 1981, and I have never seen Barramundi (Saratoga or Lates) eat plants, I have seen them spit out plants.

It is what I believe and considering Arowanas should be kept in paludarium anyway it is worth a try just to grow some grass in there, granted they only take on omnivorous diet during drought and it seem in other season they eat mostly insect prey while still take small amount of plant (mostly grass).

I am by no mean suggest replacing 46% of their staple to plants, the plant can just be grown in the aquarium and if they want to take it they will.

also seem to show that they can digest starch too.

I wonder if Arowana's hunger strike are just them switching their diet seasonally, When I have the opportunity to keep Arowana again I will try the paludarium set up and see if they will take plants when insects are offered in abundance.
