Is this what's called a Mayan cichlid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My brother used to pull these all the time.. All of his tanks are filled from local canals, or trades. Mayans, red devils, managuense, jewels....
Lol this is one of the many reasons I want to move to Florida. So much variety in the wildlife compaired to SD here. The most exotic things for fish I see here are the occasional hybrid sunfish or catfish. Granted nothing wrong with that but I'd still like to have a much bigger list of fish to catch and eat lol.

slow withering over 6 months
final stats 13 inches, 7-8 yo

Aww poor guy. He had a good life tho from what it looks like, still sucks that he passed away tho. Wish ya could've had a bit more time with him atleast, granted being 7-8 years old I'd imagine he was in his senior years already.

My Siamese algae eater did the same thing just a few days ago. Got him at full size a couple years back and just within the last month he just started to waste away until he was gone.

So far, one of the toughest fish in the jerk tank. No losses, while some other species - tilapia, vieja - suffer an occasional loss.
