Not even a tray or bowl, that's some dedication

Lol, I'm hardcore, what can I say?

Thing is, when they've all been prepped and the chopped worms are spooned into the blister packs, I store them at the back of the freezer and take individual blocks out when needed.

Storing them in the freezer doesn't bother my wife. I guess I was pushing it a bit expecting her to readily accept hundreds of whole live ones squirming on her work surfaces, lol.

A couple of updates on my little projects. The pictures below, top to bottom are:

1. My anthurium, after a lot of nursing and trying different things, is finally getting it's flowers back, they're beautiful too.

2. My little mango seedling is coming along nicely too.

3. Finally, I've managed to get an avocado seed to germinate. This is about my third seed, the others were duds! Lol.

4. My red banana is turning into a triffid!

My secret? I got lucky, lol. It can't be skill, because i'm not particularly well blessed when it comes to this type of stuff.

The avocado took me a while. The winning formula believe it or not was to put the seed in a bit of damp tissue and put it in a sealed clear plastic bag. You've got to keep it moist, but not wet. I put it on top of my fish tank where it's a bit humid and waited!

I checked it once in a while and after about a month the seed started to split and I could see the first signs of sprouting. That's when I planted it. Put it on a windowsill, but NOT one that gets full sun anytime during the day. The bright sun tends to burn tiny seedlings, I discovered this with an earlier mango attempt, lol.

I also cut an empty plastic bottle in half and covered the seed. This give the seed a sort of miniature greenhouse environment, which I'm guessing it liked, because it started growing quite fast. I've had to take the bottle off now because the seedling was running out if growing space.

Hopefully I've got hardest part out of the way now and it'll come on in leaps and bounds.

Below, little greenhouse environment, lol.

There are some real similarities between keeping plants and keeping fish.

The acidity/alkalinity of the soil plays a huge part, as with fishes water. The temperature also plays a big part, as with fish, and you'll eventually get to the stage where you can't fit any more plants in, as with fish in your tanks. There are all kinds of variety and colours, as with fish.

Two great hobbies to be interested in really. Thing is, i'm not that brilliant at either, but I enjoy trying, lol.
I can very much relate as I recently gotten into house plants as I mentioned to you in pm, I’ve got plants on top of tanks, shelf’s, cat posts, hanging from walls…it’s a bit excessive to be honest but really I feel I need more hahah of both….you know we should be so lucky we are both with partners who say no to us!

Lol, well spotted. There is a nice little story behind that. At work we have a building with big diesel tanks in which we use for fuelling our wagons, fork lift trucks and loading shovels. There is a huge old sycamore tree at the side of the building, and the "helicopter" seed pods fall, and then begin to grow in spring. But over the years the whole area has become diesel soaked due to spillages.

So basically the seed pods start to grow but quickly shrivel and die, there's just no nourishment for them at all....but a couple of years ago one seedling grew, it was pretty wimpy and wasn't doing well at all. I noticed it and when autumn came and it's couple of wimpy leaves fell off, I thought that was it, it would die and not come back this spring. But I was utterly amazed that this year, in may, little buds opened and tiny leaves popped out. I sort of felt sorry for the little guy and so dug it up and put it in that pot you see, and it is thriving.

As you well know, I can't possibly plant it in my garden, they are huge trees, honestly i don't know what to do with it, maybe keep cutting it back every year and sort of turn it into a "dwarf" variety. But well spotted on that one, lol.
Ugggghhh def re home that sucker!!! I have two of them in my back yard and though very nice for holing my hammock they certainly don’t stop with the helicopter seeds….everywhere! Gutters, roof, and crack with a bit of dirt and moisture. I am restlessly pulling Samsungs every year

I know what you mean Nik. There is a little story associated with this little sycamore though which I mentioned earlier on in the thread. In short, it didn't have a good start in life. It's "helicopter pod" fell in a crappy place at work and it really struggled for a couple of years, but it was a fighter, and I decided to rescue it to give it a better life.

I knew it would get huge one day, and yes, as you said, drop those damn helicopters all over the place, not to mention the leaves in autumn all over the garden, and the sticky sap that drops off them too. Ugghhh!

But Fishman Dave Fishman Dave came to the rescue when he jokingly said I could turn it into a world first bonsai sycamore! Lol.

So that's what I'm going to do. It gets a regular trim. I'm going to try to get it to form into a bush type shape. But of course if I don't keep on top of it then it'll just grow into a leviathan. The pic below is today, as you can see, thanks to my pruning, it's no bigger than the picture in post #1 which was taken a year ago!

I realized after I commented it was an older post and I feel asleep on page 4 and didn’t make it all the way through the thread haha (me sleeping had no indication of the thread quality, I was just tired).
It does look much cutter at this size, I hope it does turn out to be a cute bonsai type of tree for your garden!
I also intend to make it to this entire thread haha
