I first heard talk of breeding them a few years ago but I haven't seen any proof of such.

I thought they were breeding ST now in Thailand but not in large quantities.

Well I am in Thailand. They are extinct in the wild, and probably in the tank. They were never bred, as far as I know. And I think I would have known by now.

I have seen adverts on facebook that purport to export them.

All that glitters is not gold.

giseok jung giseok jung shared with me this microscopic photo of the eggs of D. pulcher.
But yeah Siamese Tiger Legend in Thailand has bred them in a pond. Apparently they are the hardest species to breed in aquarium. Maybe giseok jung giseok jung can share more info.

There has been a lot in the news about that here.

Unlikely, there could be a few old Pulcher still alive after twenty odd years in a tanks here and there. The majority went to Japan. After they went extinct in Thailand, there were still some available from Cambodia. I used to have a few.

As for the one advertised, it may not be an ST. It could be a mature three bar IT. It would be difficult to tell the difference.

The main difference that I could note is that IT get bigger and bigger, where as ST used to get to about fifteen inches, and the fatten out a lot.

The advert said that there were more available. I would not trust the advertiser. There has been a little outrage at the advert. if it were real, it would be highly illegal. I think it is merely generating hype - as is frequently done on the internet.

Do not expect to ever get a real ST.

IT, NTT, NGT and AT are still available, are great fish and I recommend them all.
ST only gets to 15" ??

So all those old school pics of ST over 18" are not real ST?

I also agree. I've seen a few real datnoid pulchers 18" but the new ones on FB is what's throwing me off

This photo is actually born between Cambodian tiger female and Siamese tiger male (both D. pulcher).
And yes, I think Siamese tiger legend in Thailand have breed ST few years ago (Around 2017 i believe).
I heard they have been spawn in tank, release the fertilized egg to the pond and collect when they are grown up because they didn't succeed to raise larva artificially.

Many are fake. Have you never seen fake pictures of enormous ST on the internet?

Really? Where is the verification?
Have you actually read the documents in Thai language that used to be on the tiger legend facebook?

All that glitters ...

I'm sure some pics are fake. So you're telling me this video label and look like an ST is also fake simply because it's over 15"? I always thought ST like other dats can get huge. Do u have pics of a real ST? not into dats but a 3 bar always impresses me
