Your least favorite fish

I have the hardest time thinking someone couldn’t like rays.
Then I remember, I thought I didn’t like rays… until I got one and something changed. At this point they are my favorite by far with Oscar’s and cichla a distant second.
I don’t care for gold fish, bettas or axolotl.
Discus lost their appeal also. Still have them but can’t say my interest is there anymore pretty fish with minimal personality.

Top of the list, a fish I strongly dislike, are blood parrots, along with the dyed, fluorescent, and similar concoctions. Somewhere on the list are flowerhorns, intentional breeding of short bodies, etc.

Lower on the list-- I don't hate the fish, they're nice fish in a setting that makes sense, but what's the obsession with contriving to add clown plecos to every possible tank, no matter the theme or other species? Geophagus and clown plecos, Heros and clown plecos, Pterophyllum and clown plecos, Satanoperca and clown plecos, Cyphotilapia and clown plecos. I've already seen this too many times: "How do you like my SA biotope?" --with clown plecos. :wall:

I've never understood the addiction that some folks have with arowanas and rays. They do absolutely nothing for me whatsoever and I can safely say that I will never keep them.

I'll add one more, and it is already becoming a popular unpopular candidate in this thread, and that is the flowerhorn. Why oh why oh why?

I think it's also important to recognise at this point that we all have different tastes. It would be boring if we all kept the same fish. It's good for the hobby that even the ones that we may personally dislike are kept successfully by others.
Rays and arowana are just "cool".

I keep almost exclusively rays and have a great time making hybrid albinos. Each ray has their own personality and I can go into my living room every night and feed each one by hand (for legal reasons, I don't recommend handfeeding rays).

I like arowana a lot, but I am not a fan of the silver arowanas in a 125g or the ones that have drop eye. A healthy arowana in a pond I quite enjoy. Not the way many seem to be kept now.

Just my .02

I'll begin, I absolutely despise:
The entire gambusia genus
Gulper catfish
Cetopsis coecutiens
Smooth pufferfish
Leporinus fasciatus

I additionally do not like (not to the same degree as the previous):
Festivums
Mikrogeophagus ramirezi
Frontosa
All tropheus except duboisi and the red spotted ones

I am open to elaborate on any of these upon request
What is your issue with frontosa? I'm not in disagreement, just curious. There is only a single type of front I would keep and I have still not had a single one make it to the fish room

My cousin had a clown pleco with goldfish but he's not wrapped too tight anyawy :hitting::y220d:

Lake malawi cichlids in general, I’ve said it multiple times before. But I also dislike blood parrots and shortbody fish.

there are few, specific haps that i really like but for the most part I'm with ya! i've always called these african tetras

GloFish, and other lab-made fish. It's not the fish's fault, but I would still never get any. Also congo tetras. They kept killing each other off. Beautiful fish, just super aggressive towards each other.

I don't like the concept of keeping them, you need a group for them to be happy, they get huge so you need a huge tank, and you can pretty much just keep them in the tank. I don't like the concept of a species only tank with a bunch of giant blue things that just sit there and occasionally kill eachother.

they are overhyped- due to cost and difficulty of collection. id say the same of tropheus too, lil heartbreakers
