I get the feeling these two are preparing to spawn. The violence from Leia has drastically subsided. Both now have their breeding tubes dropped. They’ve dug out the sand in the caves basically down to the bottom glass panel. They’re guarding the area, at least when it’s not feeding time lol. I don’t think there’s any eggs in there, but there’s only so much I can see in that cave. I also kind of figured she’d lay eggs on one of the larger stones, being large flat(ish) surface. Oh and now Solo’s sporting some black bars .

Didn’t even consider that, makes a lot of sense though.

Also forgot to mention that I’m keeping the 29 vacant for now in anticipation of fry. I may or may not leave the offspring in the 75, haven’t really decided that yet lol. But I figured the 29 could buy me some time if I need a place to put them. There’s always the old plastic tub option if I truly get overrun with babies which I probably will .

I’ll be sure to keep an eye out just in case. If I’m able to spot eggs I’ll surely be making a post probably giddy with excitement, whenever that may be .

You can put a flashlight on the interior of the logs and where they dig pits. I've noticed if given a preference females will lay in an enclosed area vs out in the open on a rock.

Thanks for the tip FINWIN. Just took a peek in their cave with a flashlight after today’s w/c. To me it doesn’t look like there’s any eggs in there atm. I suppose there’s always the possibility I missed them though . I guess time will tell. Leia’s spending a lot of time in there. Solo guards the entrance. Extremely interesting to see how they work together when spawning is on the mind.

She’s taking mouthfuls of something from here, all the way into this corner crevice of the log. Sand, eggs, wigglers? I have no freaking clue lol. I genuinely can’t see anything in the bunch of leaves, and can’t get a good angle to see what’s in that corner of the log. Solo is vehement in making sure the swordtails get nowhere near her. Displaying full black bars. I might not know what they’re doing, what I do know though is that I can watch these two for literal hours.
