Hello Everyone,

I was doing a water change yesterday and somehow my Delhizi ended up stuck in the tube. Eventually I was able to get him out, but I thought he was a goner since I don’t know how long he was caught in there. When he was first removed his entire head was a blood red and his front fins. I had separated him from the other fish, because it looked like they would pick on him. Today he looks much better, moving very slowly and I’m pretty sure he even ate a pellet today. One of his fins is still red, was thinking if there is any medicine I could add to the tank to help aid him in the recovery process. I have Clown Loaches, so I was thinking of just adding Aquarium Salt, would that help his redness?

Thank You

That's great.

I suggest just keep the water in pristine condition and hopefully the fin heals.
If the Clown Loaches weren't in the aquarium I would have said add salt.

Ok great thank you, weird I tho it aquarium salt was safe for loaches, guess I read that wrong somewhere, good thing I didn’t add. So far he is still a live, just not active at all, but he is able to hold bottom with all control.

Thank you for the advice everyone, today defiantly has a better feeding response. He ate some pellets, moving around the tank a lot better than yesterday. One of his front fine is still red and torn up, but still on the move. I’m wondering if I should buy melafix/pimafix to help him out..or just stick with keep the water pristine?

They’re pretty tough. Just keep the water super clean so a bacterial infection doesn’t take hold. Should be fine but if it gets worse, add kanamycin but you shouldn’t need to. As for Melafix and Pimafex, some swear by the stuff. I’ve gone through gallons in my early fishkeeping days (decades ago) and never could figure out if it did anything. But the product has staying power and plenty of fans so I’ve no clue.

yeah I have heard mixed reviews on it as well. So far he is definitely more responsive, moving a lot better and eating even more. Here is a picture, so far doesn’t look like any fish is picking on him, I’m debating on setting up the quarantine tank, but will see if he continues to recover.
