American Cichlid Tank setups

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Maintaining a canister filter is extremely critical when it comes to fish that come from nitrate free enviroments.

I dont have to run a canister either i could very well just drill it and toss a sump underneath it, would probably make for more room to add media to balance out water too if needed. I think i have seen people toss in crushed coral to raise KH but thats also going to buffer the ph so

Threadfin Acara
They are earth sifting so may be a issue in a planted aquarium.

Great keep us updated. Thanks again for joining the forum. Other members will chime in with their suggestions.

In a 4 foot 120G i would consider a firemouth colony or a salvini pair both with a bunch of mollies or swordtails.

I have had a firemouth before, i like them the one i had was pretty aggressive but would only chase fish away from his "spot" What are we talking when we say colony # wise and how many swordtails also will the swordtails school ? like a rummynose ?
